LastZ: Survival Shooter is a combination of practically two whole games in one. One part of the game is a vertical shooter aimed at defeating treacherous hordes of zombies before they come attack your troops head on. The other half has players creating elaborate bases to house their top soldiers and operations in preparation to take on even tougher hordes. Managing your base requires you to manage your scarce resources during the zombie apocalypse while hiring and training the top soldiers that get added to the game periodically too. Here’s how to manage everything to fight off the zombie waves.

🎮 The Game Modes

There’s two main modes which are the Shooter and Stronghold management sections. Both have their own gameplay styles that have their own challenges to keep track of or practice against. They also work in tandem with one another, as the Shooter sections are often used to gather extra rare resources from the hordes and completing challenges. Meanwhile, the Stronghold management lets you prepare for those sections and put said resources to good use. There’s also plenty of leveling and upgrades to track to make your mini civilization all the more stronger. Wanna get more Heroes to fight those zombies? 💥 The Shooter Sections

The Shooter sections are vertical levels that have your top troops traveling to defeat hordes of zombies that are coming your way. If the zombies reach you first, then you’ll fail the level and head right back to your Stronghold for your troops to recover. Throughout the level, your troops will be running into obstacles to dodge or ram through that can destroy your health. You can shoot through the obstacles to get past them, but usually it’s best to just dodge them by switching lanes. You can also pick up helpful resources like new weapons or materials for the Stronghold that you see while walking through.

Barrels are obstacles that you can shoot through for new rewards, but everything else is out to kill your troops and should be avoided! You’ll also come across bright red Gates that can be shot at to increase their path value. This way, the Gates will change color and become a positive reward for the troops rather than take some away. Once you make it through the end of the level, you’ll know if you start seeing an XP crate in the distance. Grabbing those will increase the strength of your troops and effectively level up their stats. Every Shooter level unlocks more areas for your Stronghold to take charge in and unlock more upgrades for it.

💣 The Stronghold Management

Getting through the Shooter sections is one thing, but you have to have a good Stronghold basis to get through them all. As you progress through the Shooter levels, you’ll get resources to bring back to your Stronghold and unlock more areas to move into and have more levels to play. With the new territory that you earn, you can place buildings and extra armies everywhere to defend the area from hordes and effectively have more passive resources collected. The Stronghold is also where you’ll be leveling up and feeding your soldiers to prepare for the Shooter sections later.

Both the Shooter and Stronghold gameplay feed into each other, so it’s important to have a good balance of both. While the game might feel easier to immediately fight through hordes without worrying about your Stronghold much, this only lasts for so long. Eventually you might get stuck waiting on buildings and features to upgrade and soldiers to train up before you can dare take on some of the hordes and bosses that trail right outside. The areas will become more dangerous, but the rewards speak for themselves.

👑 Your Heroes

While having a bunch of troops is important, your Heroes are where the true magic happens when fighting. Heroes are specialized soldiers with their own roles and factions that they play into. Some Heroes are more focused on buffing and supporting the other troops while other Heroes are more aggressive in leading through their DPS. Each Hero has their strengths and weaknesses to play around but are worth training up as soon as possible the second you get them at the beginning.

🚩 Hero Roles & Factions

There’s three roles that Heroes can fall into, which are DPS, Defense, and Support. The DPS are the most common Hero out of all the types which focus on aggressive damage dealing at the front of your armies. Meanwhile, the Defense is known for absorbing damage and guarding allies as the Support gives out buffs and heals to keep everyone alive for longer. It’s important to have at least one decent Hero that fits each role eventually. The Heroes can also be part of a faction which unlocks new buffs when paired with other Heroes of the same group. By playing into the gacha system and paying attention to banners when you can, you’ll be gathering strong Heroes in no time.
